What is the DG HochN Wiki?
The DG HochN Wiki is an open online knowledge platform of the German Society for Sustainability at Higher Education Institutions (DG HochN). It serves as a central repository of information, methods, best-practice examples, and project documentation related to sustainability at universities.
The Wiki compiles results from the former HOCH-N project as well as current activities of the association, making them accessible for practical use in higher education. Its goal is to preserve and share knowledge and to make it available to everyone engaged in sustainable development at universities.
The platform is collaboratively maintained: members and partner institutions can contribute, update, and expand content. In this way, the Wiki functions as a living knowledge base that fosters exchange and cooperation among universities and serves as a practical resource for advancing sustainability in higher education.
Who is DG HochN?
The German Society for Sustainability at Higher Education Institutions (DG HochN) is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting sustainable development at and through universities in Germany. It serves as an open network for everyone involved in the higher education context, including students, lecturers and staff working in teaching, research, administration or operations.
DG HochN’s goal is to make sustainability in higher education visible, connect committed actors across institutions, and foster collaboration and joint initiatives that strengthen sustainable structures and processes. The association supports exchange, cooperation and mutual learning among universities to advance the transformation toward a sustainable academic landscape.
DG HochN originated from the “HOCH-N – Universities for Sustainable Development” project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt, BMFTR) from 2016 to 2021. Since then, it has continued the structures, working groups and networks established during the project and provides a central platform for sustainability engagement in higher education through its online knowledge base (Wiki) and regular events.
Both individuals and institutions interested in contributing to sustainable development within the higher education system are invited to become members of DG HochN.
